How to Create a Template Message in ChatSilo
Save time and stay consistent by creating reusable template messages in ChatSilo — organized neatly into folders for easy access.
Step 1: Open the ChatSilo Extension and Go to the Template Tab
Launch ChatSilo in your browser and navigate to the right section.
Click the ChatSilo extension icon in your browser toolbar to open it. Once it's open, click on the Template tab to switch to the template management area.

Note: If you don't see the ChatSilo icon in your toolbar, it may be pinned under your browser's extensions menu. Click the puzzle-piece icon in your browser to find and pin it.
Step 2: Create a Template Folder
Organize your templates by grouping related messages into a folder.
Think of a template folder as a container for messages that share the same category or purpose — for example, "Follow-ups" or "Welcome Messages." To create one:
- Click the Add New Folder button.
- Type a descriptive name in the folder name field to help you identify its contents later.
- Click the Mark (checkmark) icon to confirm and save the folder.

Tip: Use clear, specific folder names like "Cold Outreach" or "Support Replies" so you can find the right template quickly when messaging contacts.
Step 3: Write Your Template Message
Open your new folder and compose the message you want to save as a template.
Click on the folder you just created to open it. In the message input field, type the message you want to use as a template.

Step 4: (Optional) Personalize Your Template with Placeholders
<!-- Clarified: the draft listed [first_name] and [last_name] as optional personalizations but didn't explain how they work — added a brief explanation for clarity -->
Make your template feel personal by inserting dynamic placeholders that auto-fill with each recipient's details.
Inside your message, type [first_name] and/or [last_name] wherever you want the recipient's name to appear. ChatSilo will automatically replace these placeholders with the actual contact's name when you send the message.
Example: "Hi [first_name], I wanted to follow up on our last conversation…" will send as "Hi Sarah, I wanted to follow up on our last conversation…"
Step 5: Save Your Template Message
Save your message to the folder so it's ready to use anytime.
Locate the Add button at the bottom-right of the input field and click it. Your template message is now saved to the selected folder.
Note: You can create as many templates as you need within a folder, and add multiple folders to keep everything organized.
You're All Set! 🎉
You've successfully created your first template message in ChatSilo. Head to the Template tab anytime to manage, edit, or use your saved templates — and keep building out your folder library as your messaging needs grow.
