How to Create a New Tag Directly from a Facebook Contact or Profile

This tutorial shows you how to create a new ChatSilo tag on the fly — from any Facebook page — without needing to open the full ChatSilo extension popup.

Step 1: Click the (+) Plus Icon

Locate and click the (+) plus icon that ChatSilo displays on the page you're currently on. You can do this from any of the following places:

• facebook.com/messages — directly from your messages list
• Your Friends listing page — beside a friend's name
• A Facebook contact's profile page — within the ChatSilo overlay

Tip: The (+) icon is part of the ChatSilo overlay and should appear automatically on supported Facebook pages. If you don't see it, make sure the ChatSilo extension is active in your browser.

Step 2: Open the Tag Popup and Click "Add Tag"

A tag popup will appear showing your existing tags. Click the Add Tag button to start creating a new tag.

Step 3: Name and Save Your New Tag

Type the name of your new tag into the tag name field — for example, Hot Leads or Event Attendees. When you're done, click the Save Tag button to create it.

Tip: Pick a name that clearly describes the group this tag represents. A good tag name makes it much easier to find and use the right contacts later.

Step 4: Assign the Tag to the Contact 

If you want to apply the new tag to the current contact right away, select it from the tag list in the popup. ChatSilo will immediately link the tag to the contact's profile.

Note: Skipping this step is fine — your new tag is saved and will be available to assign to any contact at any time.

Step 5: Confirm the Tag Appears on the Profile

Check the contact's profile to confirm the new tag is now displayed. The tag should appear in the ChatSilo overlay section of their profile.

🎉 You're all set! You've created a new ChatSilo tag without ever opening the extension popup — and if you chose to, you've already applied it to your first contact.
